What is Engulfing Candle?
A candle whose body swallows the previous candle's body — a one-bar shift in control from one side to the other.
An engulfing candle is a two-candle pattern in which the second candle's body completely covers the body of the first, in the opposite direction. A bullish engulfing prints a green body that swallows the prior red body; a bearish engulfing does the reverse. The pattern records a sharp transfer of control: everyone who traded the previous candle's direction is now underwater within a single bar, and the aggressive side has announced itself with a full-bodied close.
Like every candle pattern, its value comes from location. A bullish engulfing that forms right after a liquidity sweep of a swing low, inside a demand zone or fair value gap, is a strong confirmation candle — it shows the rejection was not just a wick but a committed close. The same pattern mid-range, or against a fresh higher-timeframe trend, is close to a coin flip. Engulfing candles also embody displacement in miniature: the bigger the engulfing body relative to recent candles, the more genuine aggression it represents. Many of our students use it as the final tick on a confluence checklist rather than a standalone trigger.
Roman Urdu mein
Engulfing candle woh hai jis ki body pichhli candle ki poori body ko nigal jaye — aik hi bar mein control doosri side ke paas chala jata hai. Sweep ke baad demand zone par bullish engulfing sab se mazboot confirmation candles mein se hai. Lekin ghalat jagah par yehi pattern sirf sikka uchhalne ke barabar hai.
